A Rebel’s Defeat

When Huang Di was trying to unite China, a war god named Chi You rebelled against him, aided by his 81 brothers. These brothers were formidable opponents. They had bronze heads, animal bodies and they ate sand. With an army that included panthers, bears and demons, Chi You attacked Huang Di and defeated him.

Huang Di did not give up. He had his men make horns, which made a sound like a dragon’s cry. When the soldiers blew the horns, Chi You’s monstrous army was terrified.

One of Huang Di’s allies was a flying dragon called Ying Long who summoned rain clouds. Chi You had the Master of Rain on his side, however, and he called up a huge storm which Ying Long couldn’t match. Huang Di’s daughter, Ba, came to her father’s aid. Though she was ugly and bald-headed, she had the power to make her body exceptionally hot. She gave off tremendous waves of heat which kept the storm at bay. Then Ying Long was able to attack the storm and subdue it. Chi You was defeated.
