Dragon Tour of Melbourne

There is a new page on my website. It is called Carole’s Dragon Tour of Melbourne. It is a walk around the city of Melbourne, Australia to view our dragons. Melbourne has quite a few dragons, and I’ve been thinking for a while that I wanted to let more people know about them and devise a walking tour of them. I’d done some research (of course), but it wasn’t until I went to London earlier this year  and came across the City of London Dragon Photo Safari by Jim Batty that I got really enthusiastic about it. Here are my favourite dragons from the London walk.

When I got back home, I was inspired to finish my Melbourne Dragon Tour. It is much more modest than the London one, but if you are in Melbourne and have a couple of hours to spare, why not have a look at Melbourne’s diverse dragons? There is a link in the menu bar or click here.

Many thanks to my Webmaster, Chris Miles, for making it look beautiful and coping with my endless fiddly changes.

New Dragonkeeper Book

Dragonkeeper Trilogy, News, dragons | Posted by Carole on Sunday 14 September 2008

I have said many, many times that I am not going to write a fourth book in the Dragonkeeper series. And I haven’t changed my mind about that. However, I have written another Dragonkeeper book. It doesn’t continue the story  after Dragon Moon though. It is a “prequel”. It is called Dragon Dawn and is set 100 years before Dragonkeeper starts and tells the story of Danzi when he was young and adventurous.

It will be out in October.

Imperial

While I was at the Shanghai American School, I had a look at the beautiful Beijing Opera costumes that belong to the school. When Jacqueline Meijer asked if I’d like to try them on, I didn’t hesitate. Here I am in Imperial dragon robes. Thanks to Jacqueline for sending me the photos.

Shanghai dragons

Wherever I go, I always keep an eye out for dragons. It will come as no surprise, I’m sure, that there was no shortage of them in Shanghai. My favourites were the ones on the bronze ritual vessels in the Shanghai Museum. They are two and a half to three thousand years old.

Click on the images to enlarge them.
