In Perth

News | Posted by Carole on Thursday 12 March 2009

I had a good time at the Perth Writers Festival. Lots of people came to my sessions, which was great.

One session was with Leigh Hobbs who writes the Old Tom books (among other things). It was interesting for me to hear how he writes his books and illustrates them.

I’ll be back in Perth again in a couple of weeks for the All Saints Literature Festival.

Here is a photo of Leigh and I at the Festival.

Hi Carole,

I have written two poems, and I was wondering what you think of them. If you copy and paste this: http://www.poetry.com/Publications/search.asp?First=Travis&Last=Gaal&submit.x=0&submit.y=0

into the address bar, then you can click ont he titles to read the poems. They are about the world wars.

Hope you like them.

Liz,
yes the new editions just have different covers, the books inside are exactly the same.

Travis,
I’m really sorry, but I don’t make comments on other people’s writings. I don’t have the skills to judge other people’s work.
Other visitors to the blog might like to read them and comment on them, though.

Sarah,
Sometimes it’s fun. Sometimes it’s not. It was fun the day the photo was taken.

Hi Carole,

I’m going to a writer’s camp in Armidale. There I will meet Australian author Sophie Masson. Have you heard of her? She’s the author of The Firebird and many others. I was chosen by the head of English at my school for my abilities with creative writing!

Hi Carole! I cannot wait for Dragon Dawn to come out in the UK. Do you know what the cover is going to look like? It hasn’t been revealed yet and I am dying to see it!

Best wishes,

Ryan

Ryan,
I have seen the cover of the UK Dragon Dawn, or at least an early version of it. It is very striking.

Hello Carole,
I’m a girl (11y) from Holland and soon I will do a book review about Dragonkeeper (Drakenhoeder). (Of course my dad has translated my message into English). I’m only allowed to do a review if I can show enough information about the writer. I’ve read the information on your site and I like to know your age or birthday. Is it possible you give me that information? Greetings, Myananda (Apeldoorn).

Posted by Carole on Saturday 28 March 2009

Rosaria,
I did spend a lot of time looking through books and websites to find where daffodils originally grew.

Posted by Carole on Saturday 28 March 2009

Myananda,
it is great to hear from someone in Holland. I am 58. I cannot put my birth date on this website. I have had trouble lately with people trying to steal my identity (I hope your Dad can translate that!). So I have taken all personal information off my website. Sorry.

Are daffodils the flower Narcisuss (i think thats how you spel it) and was named after a person who fell in love with their own reflection (from greek ,mythology.

From Travis

ps there’s probably a few spelling mistakes as i’m in a hurry!

Travis,
daffodils and narcissi are from the same family. Narcissus is usually called jonquils in Australia, I think. I suppose they were named after the Greek guy. Look it up.

Hi Carole! I love your Dragon Keeper series! I like all the descriptions you put into your stories! My favorite character is Kai. I was just wondering how many Dragon Keeper books there will be.

Caylee

P.S Could you visit me and my friend’s website? It is pandabookclub.weebly.com if you could that would be wonderful!

Caylee,
I’m pleased to hear that you like the Dragonkeeper books. There are four books, the trilogy and a prequel. I don’t have any plans to write anymore at the moment.
I had a look at your website. It looks great.
