Ruyton Launch

News | Posted by Carole on Thursday 29 March 2007

Today we had the first event to launch Dragon Moon. It was held at Ruyton Girls School and there were students from Genazzano College and Trinity Grammar as well.

Everyone was put in the proper mood by Shen Peng who played the ancient Chinese instrument called the erhu. He played beautiful music, all achieved with just two strings!

Then Andrew and Maryann from black dog books and myself gave a talk about the process of producing a book. The Ruyton girls had been asked to write about Dragonkeeper and librarian Mrs Perrini chose Faith to read out her piece, which was lovely. Faith then was given the task of launching the book by banging a gong!

I can only post a photo of me and the erhu player at this stage, as I don’t have permisson yet to post photos of the students. I will add more photos if I get permission.

Spare Time

News, Writing | Posted by Carole on Thursday 29 March 2007

I’ve finished my latest draft of my latest book. This is the first weekend that I haven’t had work to do for ages. And there’s even an extra hour as daylight saving just finished. I have spare time.
Most writers start off writing in their spare time while they work at a Proper Job. I did that for quite a few years. So when writing becomes your job (not a proper one obviously), what do you do in your spare time? The temptation is to write a bit more. Today I’ve done some gardening, learned some Chinese characters, people dropped in for lunch and its still only 2.30. Now I’m tempted to do some filing. I think I’ve forgotten how to relax.

Publication Date for Dragon Moon

My publisher tells me that Dragon Moon will be in the bookshops on 27 March in Australia. It may take a few days for them to get them out of the boxes and onto the shelves.
