Klapperschlange

News | Posted by Carole on Tuesday 28 November 2006

I have just heard that Dragonkeeper (or Huterin des Drachen) has won the German Kalbacher Klapperschlange award. This is my first award outside Australia, so it is very exciting. It’s hard to find out how my books are going overseas, very hard to get sales figures etc. So it is wonderful news.
Klapperschlange means ‘rattlesnake’ and the award is the only German children’s choice award. The winner is selected by a panel of 150 children aged 8 to 13. Previous winners have been fellow dragon-writers Cornelia Funke and Christopher Paolini. I’m looking forward to getting my trophy which I believe is in the shape of a snake!

Dear Carole,
I have just read your entry about the German award you were given in November. I can tell you that you won`t find many German book shops which do NOT offer your two novels. My daughter Miriam has just finished “Im Garten des Purpurdrachen” (Garden of the Purple Dragon)and she has asked me to write to you. Can you tell me when the sequel will be ready? She is so excited about it that she asks for the sequel every day….
Yours,
Beate

Beate,
I’m delighted to hear that my books are easy to find in Germany.
I’m afraid I don’t know when Dragon Moon will be published in Germany, probably not for a year or so. I don’t have any direct communication with the German publishers. Perhaps you could email them.
Thanks for your support.
